FANO, ITALY—In a significant step forward for sustainable yachting, Silent Yachts has successfully launched the first hull of its new flagship model, the SY80. The 24.38-metre solar-electric catamaran was lowered into the water at the builder’s Fano shipyard, marking the completion of its most ambitious project to date and heralding a new era for zero-emission cruising. This inaugural vessel, a fully customized 2-Deck version, has been sold and is now undergoing sea trials ahead of its highly anticipated world premiere at the 2025 Cannes Yachting Festival this September.
The launch represents a critical milestone not only for Silent Yachts but for the broader industry, underscoring the growing viability and demand for large, technologically advanced, and environmentally responsible motor yachts. As the pioneer of series-produced solar-powered catamarans, Silent Yachts has built a reputation on its proven solar-electric technology, and the SY80 stands as the latest and most compelling expression of that vision.
