NAVIS Writer Custom Gem Show thinking Baglietto Launches Bold Cobalt Blue DOM133 ‘Sui Generis’, Marking Seventh Launch of 2025

La Spezia, Italy – In a resounding statement of its production strength and commitment to bespoke craftsmanship, Italian shipyard Baglietto has announced the launch of Sui Generis, the latest motor yacht from its highly successful DOM133 line. Hitting the water last week at the La Spezia facility, the 41-meter vessel is the seventh yacht launched by the historic builder this year, reaffirming its position as a leader in the construction of customized superyachts.

The DOM line, an acronym for the Latin word Domus (home), was conceived by designer Stefano Vafiadis to create the feeling of a modern, floating villa. The series has been widely celebrated for its innovative layout solutions, generous interior volumes, and a design that seamlessly blends architectural and automotive-inspired lines. Sui Generis is a powerful new example of this philosophy, elevated by an owner’s distinct vision.

A One-of-a-Kind Commission

What immediately sets Sui Generis apart is her audacious color choice. The owner opted for a deep cobalt blue to be applied to both the hull and the superstructure, a decision that gives the yacht a powerful and instantly recognizable identity on the water. This bold aesthetic choice underscores the high degree of personalization that has become a hallmark of the Baglietto offering.

The customization extends deep into the yacht’s interior, which was curated by Baglietto's in-house Design Team. Working closely with the owner, the team implemented significant structural and decorative modifications to tailor the living spaces with precision.

One of the most notable interior alterations is on the lower deck. Here, two VIP cabins feature a sliding partition wall, allowing them to merge into a single, full-beam second master suite. This versatile layout offers unparalleled flexibility, providing the option for either distinct guest accommodations or a spectacularly spacious private retreat.

Further custom work includes a modification to the central staircase. The foyer has been enlarged to create a dedicated space for a piece of art, elegantly transforming a functional transit area into an aesthetic focal point. The sun deck has also been designed to the owner's specifications, incorporating a custom-made pool that enhances the already expansive outdoor living experience.

The Proven DOM Platform

While unique in its execution, Sui Generis is built on the proven and successful DOM133 platform. The all-aluminum yacht features the line's signature elements, which have resonated strongly with a discerning market.

Key features of the DOM133 series include:

  • A Two-Level Beach Club: This expansive area at the stern is a defining feature, creating a seamless connection to the sea. It incorporates an infinity pool with a lifting floor, allowing the space to be transformed from a pool area to a flat deck for entertaining.

  • Panoramic Windows: The main saloon is flanked by floor-to-ceiling windows that not only flood the interior with natural light but also open out to create terraces over the water, enhancing the indoor-outdoor flow.

  • Shallow Draft: With a draft of just 2.1 meters (7 feet), the DOM133 is designed to cruise comfortably in shallow waters, granting access to secluded bays and anchorages often inaccessible to yachts of this size.

  • Impressive Performance:Sui Generis is powered by two Caterpillar C32 engines, delivering a top speed of 17 knots. The hull is engineered for efficiency, offering a substantial range for long-distance cruising.

Fabio Ermetto, Baglietto's Chief Commercial Officer, commented on the launch, stating, "Sui Generis perfectly embodies the spirit of the DOM133 line. A modern, elegant, and highly customizable yacht, capable of meeting the most specific needs of the owner. It confirms the success of a line that has perfectly interpreted the demands of an increasingly discerning market."

Baglietto's Enduring Legacy

The launch of Sui Generis is another milestone in what is proving to be a banner year for Baglietto. The shipyard, with facilities in La Spezia and Carrara, specializes in the construction of planing and semi-displacement yachts ranging from 35 to 65 meters. Significant recent investments have expanded its production capabilities, including new sheds for building yachts up to 65 meters and an approximately 1,200-ton travel lift, the largest in Europe.

This seventh launch of 2025 underscores the shipyard's robust health and its ability to deliver complex, highly customized projects on schedule. The DOM133 line, in particular, has become a cornerstone of its semi-custom portfolio, blending Italian design flair with proven engineering.

As Sui Generis undergoes final outfitting before her delivery, the industry will be watching closely. Her unique character and bold design choices make her a standout yacht, not just for Baglietto, but for the 40-meter segment as a whole.
