Mangusta Launches Fifth Oceano 50: A 50-Metre Triumph of Italian Design and Engineering

VIAREGGIO, ITALY – As the Mediterranean charter season approaches, Overmarine Group has marked a significant milestone with the launch of the fifth unit of its celebrated Mangusta Oceano 50. The 50-metre displacement superyacht, a cornerstone of the builder's metal collection, slipped into the water on June 10, 2025, further cementing the model's reputation for blending voluminous interiors with an elegant, sea-centric design philosophy.

The continued success of the Oceano 50 line underscores a clear demand in the market for vessels that prioritize comfort, range, and a profound connection to the marine environment. This latest launch, secured in a long-standing collaboration with the brokerage house Moran Yachts, is a testament to the model's enduring appeal among discerning owners.

A Masterclass in Design Collaboration

The Mangusta Oceano 50 is the result of a proven and effective partnership between the creative vision of designer Alberto Mancini and the robust engineering capabilities of Overmarine Group's in-house technical department. Her sleek external lines are instantly recognizable as a Mangusta, yet they enclose a world designed for long-range cruising and immersive onboard living, all while remaining under the 500 GT threshold.

At the heart of the yacht's design ethos is the concept of water itself. Every space is crafted to maximize natural light and foster a seamless transition between the yacht's dazzling interiors and the surrounding seascape. This is achieved through expansive, floor-to-ceiling windows and massive glazed surfaces that create an atmosphere of openness and continuity. In key areas, entire walls of glass slide away, transforming enclosed saloons into open-air lounges.

Outdoor Living Redefined

The exterior decks of the Mangusta Oceano 50 are engineered to offer unparalleled relaxation and entertainment spaces. The most notable of these is the innovative beach club, a three-tiered terrace that unfolds at the stern to create an expansive, 180-degree private platform on the water. Complemented by a sheltered area with plush sofas, it serves as the primary hub for watersports and seaside lounging.

The commitment to an aquatic lifestyle is further evidenced by the inclusion of two panoramic swimming pools, a signature feature of the model.

  • Upper Deck Pool: A substantial 6.50m x 2.60m pool equipped with a counterflow swimming system, allowing for genuine exercise or leisurely relaxation.
  • Sun Deck Pool: An infinity-edge pool that offers breathtaking, unobstructed views, creating the illusion of a direct connection to the horizon.

Beyond the pools, the upper and sun decks provide expansive areas for alfresco dining and sunbathing, while the main deck aft hosts a spacious and private lounge area, perfect for cocktails or quiet contemplation.

A Bespoke Interior Sanctuary

As with every Mangusta vessel, the interiors of this fifth Oceano 50 have been fully customized to reflect the owner's personal taste and lifestyle. The owner worked in close collaboration with the shipyard's design office to craft a unique and bespoke environment.

The accommodation layout on this unit has been configured with five cabins. The lower deck features four generous guest cabins, but unconventionally swaps a fifth cabin for a full-beam, state-of-the-art gymnasium—a nod to the growing emphasis on wellness in modern yachting.

The full-beam master stateroom is positioned forward on the main deck, providing the owner with a private sanctuary complete with an exclusive, automatically-operated balcony that extends over the sea. This feature provides a truly private terrace for morning coffee or evening stargazing, directly accessible from the master suite.

Engineering for Global Exploration

Beneath its elegant exterior, the Mangusta Oceano 50 is a capable and efficient long-range cruiser. The steel displacement hull is powered by twin MTU 12V 2000 M86 diesel engines, each producing 1,700 horsepower.

This power plant provides a top speed of 16 knots for swift passages when needed. However, the yacht is optimized for efficiency, boasting a comfortable cruising speed of 11 knots, at which she can achieve a transatlantic range of 4,500 nautical miles. This capability empowers her owner and guests to undertake extensive global voyages, from the Caribbean to the remote archipelagos of the Pacific, with confidence and in absolute comfort.

A Legacy of Excellence

The launch comes as Overmarine Group celebrates its 40th anniversary, marking four decades of innovation and family-run dedication to yacht building since its founding by the Balducci family in 1985. Now with the third generation involved in the business, the Group maintains a hands-on approach to quality and a personal relationship with every client. From its state-of-the-art facilities in Viareggio, Massa, and Pisa, Mangusta continues to build its three distinct lines—Maxi Open REV, GranSport, and Oceano—shaping the dreams of owners around the world.

With over 20 metal vessels delivered to date, joining a fleet of more than 300 yachts, the Mangusta Oceano 50 stands as a proud example of the brand's successful expansion into the displacement market.
