Amels 77m Superyacht Energy

Among yachts of considerable size, the 77-meter Amels motor yacht Energy sails with an aura of peaceful distinction. She does not shout. There is no need. She gently whispers her virtues among privileged guests on board. The magic comes from brilliant design that presents the feeling of a much larger yacht than she actually measures.

Similar to exquisite tsugi joinery, the talents of Espen Øino and François Zuretti fit together perfectly, strengthening the connection between enclosed and alfresco spaces. Energy beckons guests through gentle curves, seeming to echo the purposeful movements of Tai Chi, eyes wide open and curious through enormous full-height glass. Energy is attentive, engaged, and alive. In a word, she is exceptional.

From Brief to Build

Expressing priorities in bonding the ship with the sea, the owner’s brief outlined the challenge for the full custom design. Øino’s refined exterior lines flow with Zen-like confidence to complement the enlightened interiors of Zuretti. Subtle but effective, the yacht evokes a simple harmony that luxury elevates to an understated style. Many yachts claim a seamless connection to the sea. Energy effortlessly achieves that.

The lower deck is designed with a substantial bathing platform at the stern. A wellness area forward of the beach club opens to the fresh sea air through fold-down decks to both port and starboard. Amidships, the fold-down sea entrance platform welcomes guests to the foyer, where a glass cylinder whisks them from the lower deck to the bridge. All of these details welcome guest interaction with the sea.

The upper deck, also referred to as the owner’s deck, echoes the blue of the sea with its 12.5-meter expanse of jet pool on the aft deck. On the foredeck, a large jacuzzi awaits the opportunity to soothe tired muscles and tease out any remaining tension. A half circle of full-height windows lead from the owner’s stateroom to the deck and jacuzzi area, while a spacious foredeck encourages observation and engagement, introducing the sea as a welcome companion to the guest list.

The top deck offers an aft jacuzzi and a forward sun deck, as Energy enjoys presenting a glorious view from every angle. Sofa seating and lounge areas dot the teak decks throughout the yacht, further reinforcing links to the sea.

Elegant Numbers

At 2,885 GT, Energy measures 77.8 meters in length, with a 14-meter beam and 3.8-meter draft. She comfortably cruises at 13.5 knots with a range of 5,000 nautical miles and has a top speed of 17 knots. Propulsion is delivered by twin screw diesel 3,004 hp MTU engines and three Scania generators. Two sets of stabilizers keep Energy on an even keel.

Exterior design by Espen Øino International of Monaco and interior design by Zuretti Design of Nice complement the steel hull and aluminum superstructure built by Amels Yachting, delivered in 2022 from the Netherlands yard. Energy accommodates 14 guests in seven double cabins, served by 27 crew.

The yacht carries a 10-meter Pascoe tender powered by a pair of 500 hp engines. She also tucks in a Ribeye tender with two 250 hp Yanmar engines. The tenders, which often take up lower deck space on other yachts, are stored aft on the main deck, cleverly hidden from view, leaving the lower deck enough space to fully embrace wellness pursuits.

The Lower Deck

Boarding the yacht amidships to starboard, the ample boarding platform leads to the welcoming entry area and guest foyer, with a gleaming columnar glass lift. A stairway radiates around the back side of the lift.

Forward of the foyer, a central hall leads to the beauty salon, with matching space to port for luggage and storage. Further forward, two guest cabins with capacious baths and generous walk-in closets are matched to port and starboard. A day head sits aft of the foyer, and storage space sits along the forward wall. Crew areas reach to port, and are not visible from the foyer.

Further forward, behind a bulkhead, the hospital sits to starboard with the remaining space occupied by crew cabins. A dedicated crew stair allows discreet service.

Aft of the foyer and connected by the guest corridor, two guest cabins with large baths and walk-in closets match the two guest cabins forward. Further aft, the engine room straddles both sides of the corridor, which has a transparent floor for guests’ curiosity and entertainment, watching the machinery and engines below.

Further aft is the wellness center. A well-equipped gymnasium and massage room to port both access a fold-down deck. To starboard, a sauna, relaxation area, and hammam sit to starboard, also benefiting from the open space views of a fold-down deck. A day head and shower are located next to the hammam. A stair leading to the main deck sits next to the sauna.

Fully aft, a beautifully appointed beach club sofa and chairs present a palette influenced by the ocean’s blue and the sand’s neutral tones, encouraging guests to sit a while and enjoy the view. A bar with fixed seating sits to starboard. A bathing platform with stair entry to the sea sits fully aft. Behind it all, backlit onyx fitted with gleaming silver bamboo silhouettes dances with light and shadow.

The Main Deck

Exiting the glass lift in the guest lobby or taking the stairway to the main deck, guests move forward through the guest corridor to the owner’s office to starboard. To port, the martial arts room with beautifully lacquered red and yellow floor easily converts to a media room. Both benefit from large sliding glass doors to the extra-wide side decks.

Further forward, the VIP corridor leads to matching cabins with large VIP baths, spacious closets, desks with seating areas, and private balconies. Large windows continue to expand the view. A service corridor leads to the crew areas forward with en suite baths, and a crew service stair. Behind the guest lobby, a crew lobby, service lift, and crew stair sit to port.

Aft of the guest lobby, a transverse service area embraces storage, pantry, and a powder room. Leaving aft from the guest lobby, a corridor leads to the boardroom-ready conference table for 18, striking chandelier, and large screen television. A bar and pantry sit to port.

Further aft of the dining area, storage for tenders, beach, and water toys join tech space, all behind beautifully designed panels. Fully aft on the deck, a pair of sofas, and a square table with seating for four find the space beautifully accented with a waterfall set on the aft wall of the storage space.

Amels Superyacht Energy. The Upper Deck

The Upper Deck

Taking the glass lift or adjacent stair to the upper deck, the entire forward space is dedicated to the owner’s suite. The owner’s entrance provides privacy, leading to the forward owner’s lobby.

To port of the lobby, the enormous owner’s bath features dual vanities with sinks, storage, and mirrors. Private compartments, one for shower and one for toilet with bidet, sit on the central wall of the bath. To starboard of the lobby, the owner’s dressing room with large walk-in closet features seating and a central island chest of drawers.

Forward past the lobby, the owner’s sleeping area takes center stage with a commanding view through the large windows, providing a 180-degree view. A desk sits to port, and small seating area breakfast table sits to starboard. Doors to port and starboard allow access to the forward owner’s deck, featuring a lounge area, jacuzzi area, and fireplace area.

Aft of the lobby, a pantry and crew stair sit to port, with storage, a powder room, and guest corridor to starboard. The corridor leads to the owner’s saloon. A large sectional sofa sits centrally, facing a wide flat screen television on the forward wall. A curved bar sits to port, next to a set of large glass doors out to the side deck. To starboard, a games and coffee table also gets an excellent view through another set of large glass doors.

Aft of the salon, the aft owner’s deck shares a large dining area with upholstered sofas, chairs, and tables, surrounding the forward end of the 12.5-meter contraflow pool with a 1.4-meter depth. Occasional chaise lounges and sun pads surround the remainder of the pool.

The Bridge Deck

Entering the bridge deck from the guest foyer, a forward corridor leads to the captain’s en suite quarters and the wheelhouse. Forward of the wheelhouse, a sectional sofa sits on the forward bridge deck. A crew lobby, ship’s office, crew service lift, and crew stair sit to port behind the guest foyer.

Taking the guest corridor aft from the guest foyer, a powder room and stair sit to starboard, with a pantry and galley to port. Further aft, the music lounge gathers guests for a lively evening around the music room, with Steinway baby grand piano, while secure seating at the port side marble-topped bar offers refreshment. A large sectional sofa, low tables, and upholstered chairs sit forward to starboard. A coffee and games table takes the aft starboard corner.

Large sliding doors open to the aft bridge deck. Ample sofa seating, large low tables, and large storage cabinets still leave plentiful space for socializing and stargazing. Stairs to port and starboard lead upward.

The Top Deck

Arriving at the top of the yacht via the stairs either to port or starboard, guests can choose seating in matching coves of U-shaped sofas with low tables, chaise lounges around the jacuzzi, or bar seating around the C-shaped counter.

Looking out on the helideck/sundeck, a perfect perch for a DJ sits logically at the forward edge of the bar, while California Audio Technology contributes the sound.
