Baglietto Launches First FAST50: A 50-Metre Aluminium Superyacht Redefining the Fast Displacement Segment

A New Era for Custom Fast Superyachts

La Spezia, Italy — Baglietto has officially launched hull number 10268, marking the highly anticipated debut of the very first unit in the new FAST50 line. Unveiled on June 3, 2026, this full-aluminium yacht comes in below the 500 GT threshold and introduces a new generation of sporty vessels to the market. The FAST50 is engineered to combine high performance and aggressive styling with the generous interior volumes typically associated with displacement yachts. This strategic launch further strengthens the Italian shipyard’s leadership position in the segment of highly customised fast superyachts.

Design Heritage and Automotive Inspiration

The owner’s brief for this project was remarkably clear: to seamlessly reinterpret the legacy of Baglietto’s iconic fast yachts that have historically marked yacht design. The sleek lines of renowned yachts such as the Adler, the Pachamama, and the Monokini—which was the winner of the prestigious Compasso d’Oro in 2016—have been reimagined through a modern, contemporary lens. At the same time, the FAST50 integrates several of the stylistic elements originally introduced with the more traditional T-line, which was first unveiled with the T52.

Fabio Ermetto, Chief Commercial Officer at Baglietto, emphasized the importance of this lineage. "With the FAST50, we wanted to reinterpret Baglietto’s most authentic DNA — that of the large, high-performance aluminium yachts that shaped the shipyard’s history — translating it into a contemporary platform capable of combining performance, comfort and extraordinary liveability," Ermetto stated. He further noted that the project represents the shipyard's vision of creating architecturally and technically advanced sporty yachts tailored deeply to the owner’s lifestyle.

Sports Car Aesthetics on the Water

The exterior profile of the FAST50 is deeply influenced by the automotive world. These automotive references are evident throughout the yacht's design architecture.

  • The yacht features integrated air intakes directly inspired by sports cars.
  • The stern fairleads draw their design cues from the exhausts of high-performance vehicles.
  • The dynamic character of the vessel is reinforced by a sophisticated "Porsche Chalk" hull colour.
  • This distinct shade was created specifically for the yacht using a custom Boero paint cycle.

Engineering and Technical Specifications

Measuring exactly 50 metres in length, this lightweight alloy fast displacement yacht stands proudly as the flagship of the FAST line. The FAST line was designed by Francesco Paszkowski, who is also responsible for the yacht's interiors in collaboration with Margherita Casprini. The vessel's naval architecture has been expertly developed by Pierluigi Ausonio.

To achieve its impressive performance metrics, the yacht is equipped with a formidable propulsion package. The FAST50 is powered by four MTU 2000 M96L engines, allowing the vessel to reach a top speed of 30 knots. Furthermore, the project is completed by a shallow-draft semi-tunnel hull. This specific hull engineering ensures excellent performance even in cruising areas characterized by significantly reduced water depth.

Logistical operations for tenders are handled with high efficiency. The stern garage is uniquely designed with a flooding launch system and is fully capable of accommodating a tender up to 7 metres in length. Additionally, a second garage is located in the forward section of the yacht.

Revolutionary Interior Layout and Liveability

Unlike the traditional fast yachts that preceded it in the shipyard's history, the FAST50 is developed across three true decks. It introduces a wide-body configuration specifically for the owner’s suite. This architectural choice significantly increases interior volumes without compromising the sleek elegance of the vessel's exterior profile. To ensure both owner privacy and stylistic continuity, two large silk-screened hull windows are integrated into the design.

The lower deck features a meticulously planned accommodation layout. It includes four guest cabins: two VIP suites and two twin cabins, all of which feature en-suite bathrooms. The dedicated crew area comprises a spacious crew mess, the captain’s cabin, and four crew cabins outfitted with Pullman beds. Moving up to the main deck, a particularly generous galley is positioned amidships. Conceived as a truly convivial space, this galley reflects the owner’s explicit desire to personally enjoy the environment alongside family and friends.

Ergonomics and Material Selection

The interior spaces dialogue harmoniously with the exterior environment through an essential and highly contemporary design language. The selection of materials was heavily influenced by the technical demands of a high-speed vessel.

  • Teak serves as the dominant material, applied in both smooth finishes and crafted slatted patterns to create visual movement and tridimensionality.
  • The architectural approach prioritizes clean lines, lacquered surfaces, and experimental woods, most notably a striking "burnt" oak.
  • Strict weight control was fundamental to achieving the yacht's required 30-knot performance, guiding the design team toward lightweight materials.
  • This weight mandate resulted in a much more restrained use of heavy materials like marble and natural stone.
  • Even the exterior handrails have been manufactured out of titanium to save weight while maintaining high strength.

Additionally, great importance was placed on the lighting scheme throughout the interior. Lighting is utilized as an artistic element, explicitly aimed at emphasizing the design of various objects and enhancing the three-dimensionality of the interior walls.

Outdoor Spaces and the Beach Club Experience

The FAST50 achieves a strong sense of continuity between its indoor and outdoor spaces. Much like the traditional T-line, this is accomplished through the use of full-height opening windows located on three sides of both the main and upper decks. Furthermore, signature "cut-out" bulwarks amplify the direct visual connection with the sea. By strategically relocating the ventilation ducts to the outside of the hull structure, interior volumes are further optimized, giving the main salon—which accommodates a lounge and TV space—a particularly spacious feel.

The stern design incorporates several innovative features originally introduced on the T-line. The area is developed across two levels and is enhanced by fold-down bulwarks that significantly extend the beach platform. This setup transforms the space into a true beach club in direct connection with the sea, appropriately furnished with chaise longues facing the water. To preserve the absolute purity of the yacht’s exterior lines, a concealed transformer successfully replaces the traditional passerelle.

The upper deck provides incredibly generous outdoor areas. Aft of the integrated wheelhouse, there are dedicated lounge and sunbathing spaces. Forward of the wheelhouse, guests will find a conversation area, additional sunpads, and a striking jacuzzi positioned at the extreme bow to provide maximum privacy and privileged views while at anchor or in port. The upper deck also hosts a veranda that opens on three sides, containing a panoramic dining room. Above, a rooftop area—an unusual feature for a yacht in this category—has been conceived as a secluded retreat, featuring a dining area and chaise longues dedicated entirely to the owner’s relaxation.

Baglietto's Expanding Production Capabilities

The launch of the FAST50 highlights Baglietto’s robust manufacturing infrastructure. The boat builder specializes in the construction of new planing aluminium yachts, as well as steel and aluminium semi-displacement mega-yachts ranging between 35 and 65 metres in length. Baglietto currently operates out of two primary production sites in Italy: the headquarters in La Spezia and an operating site in Carrara.

The La Spezia headquarters span approximately 35,000 square metres. Over recent years, Baglietto has made considerable investments to extensively renovate this entire production site. These upgrades include the construction of three new sheds designed for yachts up to 65 metres in length, alongside new fully-equipped quays capable of berthing vessels up to 70 metres. The facility also boasts an approximately 1,200-ton travel lift, noted as the largest in Europe, which allows for the efficient haulage and launch of yachts up to 65 metres. The Carrara site comprises two 5,000-square-metre areas; one is utilized for building military crafts under the Baglietto Navy brand, while the second is equipped with four new sheds dedicated to the construction of the DOM line and yachts up to 46 metres.
