Where the Mountains Meet the City
Winter footwear often seems divided between two worlds: practical designs built for cold mountain environments and fashion-led styles meant for sophisticated city streets. INUIKII has developed its identity around bringing these worlds together.
Founded in 2013, the family-owned Swiss company is headquartered in Zurich, where it designs and develops all its creations. Production takes place through selected manufacturers in Europe and beyond, with an emphasis on quality, craftsmanship, and durable materials. In September 2025, the company opened its first flagship store in Zurich, a natural setting for a brand influenced by both Alpine landscapes and contemporary urban life.
For Fall/Winter 2026/27, INUIKII explores this relationship through a collection entitled Where Mountains Meet the City. Rather than presenting nature and the urban environment as opposites, the collection considers how one can flow naturally into the other. Earthy colors, tactile surfaces and enveloping shapes recall the mountains, while modern proportions give the footwear a distinctive city presence.
At the center of the collection is a reinterpretation of the original INUIKII boot. As the brand’s first silhouette, it established a visual language associated with protection, comfort and character. For FW26/27, the design evolves through sharper lines, new proportions, and different interpretations. Lacing plays a particularly visible role, functioning not simply as a closure but as a defining aesthetic element.
The wider collection pairs natural color palettes with occasional unexpected accents, blending vintage influences with modern silhouettes. Suede, shearling, wool, and cotton add warmth, texture, and depth throughout the season. Four selected designs illustrate the different directions INUIKII takes with this vocabulary.
The Classic Chocolate offers the most direct connection to the brand’s origins. Its compact ankle-height silhouette is presented in deep tonal brown, with prominent rope-style lacing wrapped around the upper. Visible stitching, a rounded toe, a nd a plush interior give the design a warm, substantial appearance. It reads as winter-ready without relying on an overtly technical aesthetic.
At the expressive end of the collection, the Sheculig Teddy Brown transforms the boot into a statement piece. Its upper is almost completely enveloped in long, multicolored teddy-like texture, moving from cream to caramel and deeper brown. A generous rolled collar amplifies its volume, while contrasting laces cross the front. The result is playful, highly tactile, and designed to stand out against the restrained palette of a winter wardrobe.
The Mountain High Sand offers a taller, more streamlined profile. Its padded shaft rises well above the ankle and is secured by extensive wraparound lacing, complemented by a top drawcord. The monochromatic sand coloring unifies the panels and construction details, letting the height and lacing system define the silhouette. Visually, it feels equally suited to an Alpine setting or a cold urban destination.
The Mountain Sand interprets the same color family in a shorter form. Photographed in profile, it reveals a broad padded cuff, layered side panels, oversized lacing and a substantial sole. The INUIKII name appears prominently along the side, introducing a graphic element to an otherwise tonal design. Compared with the Mountain High, its lower proportions create a more compact, casual character.
These four models demonstrate that INUIKII’s winter identity cannot be reduced to a single formula. The Classic Chocolate emphasizes heritage; the Sheculig Teddy Brown explores texture and personality; and the two Mountain designs use height, padding, and lacing to produce different interpretations of a contemporary winter boot.
Together, they express the central idea behind the FW26/27 collection: footwear that belongs in more than one landscape. Whether worn during an Alpine escape or against the architectural backdrop of a winter city, INUIKII presents warmth and urban style as parts of the same journey.
