Largest Boating Event in the World
The 2023 Discover Boating® Miami International Boat Show® has once again cemented South Florida's status as a mecca for the marine industry, as the largest boating and yachting event in the world saw strong attendance and sales. Over the course of five days, the event attracted over 100,000 visitors from approximately 35 countries, generating an estimated $1.34 billion for the state.
The event, jointly produced by Informa Markets, the National Marine Manufacturers Association (NMMA), and the International Yacht Brokers Association (IYBA), offered attendees diverse experiences, ranging from educational to entertaining and luxurious. Guests were able to explore impressive exhibitions and meet with leading experts in the marine industry, as well as experience hands-on marine innovations at the Nautical Ventures AquaZone and learn about ongoing sustainability efforts at the Costa Conservation Village.
One of the highlights of this year's event was the technological innovations from across the industry, showcasing a comprehensive approach to sustainability. The expanded Charged! Pavilion featured a variety of electric products, such as fully electric boats, electric outboard motors, and marina fast-charging stations. Exhibitor X Shore presented boats that are almost completely silent and produce zero exhaust emissions, with their Eelex 8000 saving approximately 2 metric tons of CO2 emissions during a typical season of 50 hours on the water, compared to a high-performance ICE boat.
A significant feature of the event was its dedication to safeguarding the marine wildlife and promoting sustainability efforts in Miami-Dade County. The organizers collaborated with the Miami Foundation to increase awareness and assist in preserving the Biscayne Bay ecosystem. Attendees were given the opportunity to donate to the Biscayne Bay Recovery Fund, which aimed to protect the 35-mile-long marine ecosystem and support its economic significance to the region.
