Riva 27m Folgore Full Review

The new Folgore yacht design from Riva could just be the most exciting combination of superior engineering, original design, and technology-led innovation seen this year.

Inventiveness, appeal, and inspiration are just some of the words used to describe Riva 88 Folgore. In a collaboration between Officina Italiana Design and Ferretti Group’s engineering department, the design of the 26.92m superyacht incorporates materials like glass, marble, and stainless steel to create a sophisticated yet functional design that supports high-level efficiency and exceptional performance.

Outdoor areas are maximized with a variety of stylish seating choices and social zones that can be used for simple relaxation or lively entertaining. Sun pads, outdoor dining spaces, and convivial dining places are plentiful aboard Folgore, and an array of inventive design features blend modern convenience with innovative capability.

Riva 88’s design concept should appeal to cruisers and speed fans alike. The sport aesthetics that evoke automotive overtones, seamlessly unify past and present with elegant grace. A focus on performance and serviceability is augmented by blending contemporary materials like carbon fiber with rich colored mahogany inlays and steel highlights. Powered by twin MTU 2638HP 16V engines with an impressive top speed of 39 knots, Folgore - the Italian word for lightning - is appropriately named.

Both the striking exterior and rich interior design carry some of Riva’s legendary hallmarks. The yacht’s smooth and sophisticated profile is sliced by an artistic and dramatic-looking swath of smoked glass windows running along the yacht’s side. The same darkly colored glass wraps around the integrated sports bridge, leaving Folgore looking nothing short of refined and tasteful.

Carbon fiber elements combined with smooth textures like steel and mahogany achieve the effect of past meets present with breathtaking confidence.

Unique and novel features have been incorporated into Fogore’s design that offer flexible living and maximize functionality while aboard. An integrated sunroof opens at the front or the back to allow or block sea breezes which can be used while at sea or at anchor. Beneath the roof is a slatted structure that can separate indoor and outdoor spaces as desired in a versatile use of space. To the stern, a dual-purpose tender garage door folds down to create a spacious beach club platform or can be further lowered to launch a tender or PWC.

On entering the yacht’s interior, the elegant design and exceptional attention to detail continue. The sleek lines and stylish layout generated a feeling of dignified and sophisticated comfort using materials like leather, steel, and lacquered wood.

The main deck is separated into distinct areas made for entertaining and dining, and the interior features a large open space lounge that is made bright and inviting by the extraordinary plethora of windows that embellish the walls. A sumptuous pale Poliform sofa is large enough for multiple guests to convene and is complemented by a sleek grey marble coffee table.

A TV cabinet in polished wood faces the sofa containing a 55-inch TV, making this the perfect place to relax and entertain or catch the latest movie. Colored leather inserts and white parquet are contrasted by the dramatic alternating black and white ceiling sections, giving the area a feel of understated and refined splendor.

The port side is dedicated to an interior dining area and features a large tinted glass table with grey and stainless steel chairs. Strategic use of lacquered rosewood perfectly complements the glass and steel elements, and highly reflective surfaces mirror the light entering the deck to further increase the impression of space. This is an elegant onboard location for people to gather and share a meal or a light snack while enjoying exterior ocean views.

Folgore’s open feel is further enhanced by the curving floor-to-ceiling windows that run the length of the lounge and dining area and culminate in rear double glass doors that lead down to two teak wood stairs into the cockpit. A huge sofa and wood and steel coffee table create a luxurious open-air seating space for dining al fresco while cruising over the water.
