The new 50m Tankoa S501 Hybrid successfully launched

The impressive and beautiful new 50-meter Tankoa S501 hybrid has been successfully launched by the Italian shipyard in Genoa and is set to make its official world debut at this year's Monaco Yacht Show.

The latest model is based on a similar design - the Vertige - which was the first in the boat builder's 50-meter series, and the entire project has been developed by the team at Tankoa with her owner. However, there are key differences:

  • The latest superyacht has hybrid propulsion
  • There are five cabins with the owner's suite on the main deck and the lower deck featuring four guest cabins
  • Also, instead of being on the lower deck, the galley has been placed on the main deck
  • The foredeck features a helipad.

Superyacht's hybrid system

The superyacht's hybrid system uses twin MTU diesel engines producing 895 kW and two 300 kW electric motors fed by two 250 kW variable speed generators.

Essentially, in diesel-electric mode, the hybrid superyacht can speed up to 10.5 knots with a maximum range of 4,900 nautical miles. The mode delivers reduced noise levels and considerable fuel savings.

In hybrid mode, one of the two main engine shafts will generate the electrical power to run the second electric motor for propulsion and hotel needs.

The S501 will have a cruising range in hybrid mode of approximately 4,000 nautical miles at 12 knots. During this mode, the two diesel generators are shut down during navigation.

In 'traditional' mode, both of the main diesel engines and the diesel generator for feeding hotel loads are used, and the yacht can cruise at 16.5 knots. The top speed for the hybrid superyacht is in excess of 18.5 knots when putting in full speed mode.

Impressive and stylish interior design

The impressive and stylish interior design combines modern and light tones with an abundance of natural materials, and it has been created by Francesco Paszkowski Design in collaboration with Margherita Casprini.

The yacht's lower deck will also be equipped with a beach club and a gym, two VIP cabins with king-size beds plus two guest cabins with twin births. The crew's quarters and service areas are also located here.

On the main deck of the S501 Hybrid, the cockpit has an oversize sunbed, a U-shaped sofa along with coffee tables and a bar.

The interior features a spacious saloon, galley, dining room and a superb master suite featuring an office and lounge equipment with a large openable window to port and a fold-down terrace to starboard.

On the fly deck, there is a lot of space and comfort with sunbeds, sofas, tables, a generous Jacuzzi, and a bar.

The 50 m Tankoa S501 Hybrid will undergo a final fit out and dock trials before undertaking intensive sea trials and then she will be delivered to her European owner in time for the summer season and also for her Monaco Yacht Show debut.
