Azulik Hotel: Spirit of the Yucatan

Surrounded by luscious greenery and tepid blue waters, the moment you begin to explore the grounds of Mexico’s Azulik Hotel will be one that you remember for the rest of your life. With the sun setting behind you and the sea breeze keeping you warm, it becomes immediately apparent why so many global adventurers make the trip to the Yucatan Peninsula each year.

There seem to be few words that could possibly begin to describe the beauty that can be found at Azulik. “Paradise” is perhaps the word that comes closest to capturing this resort’s unrivaled beauty and connection to nature. The wooden paths, delicate rock features, and carefully designed villas each make it possible for guests of all varieties to remain forever connected to our world’s natural beauty.

While there are many different places to stay on the Yucatan Peninsula, there are none quite as transcendentally beautiful as Azulik. The 48 villa resort is carefully placed between the vibrant jungles of Tulum and the Caribbean Sea. Whether you hope to discover something new or simply relax and listen to the sounds of the ocean, this Caribbean slice of nirvana will enable you to live your best life.

Azulik Hotel, Balancing Nature, Luxury, and History

As you explore the premises, with tropical birds chirping in the distance and warm rays of sunshine falling on your face, the resort’s unapologetic commitment to nature becomes immediately apparent. Each of the structures, features, and details that can be found at the resort are completely integrated into the surrounding, tropical landscape. Nothing is out of place nor is anything contradicting the natural order of our world.

The team at Azulik claims, “We respect the earth in which we live. We have built elevated wooden paths that twist and turn, allowing trees to grow freely. All premises are lit by candlelight only, creating a natural ambiance, perfect for a relaxing retreat or a romantic getaway.”

Even upon first glance, it becomes quite clear that these are not hollow words. This is not just another resort, it is a lifestyle—a philosophy. The design team is well aware that the natural beauty of the area cannot possibly be replicated by the mortal hands of humankind; with this knowledge, they sought to create a paradise where nature’s beauty is not diminished but instead is amplified.

The resort was built by many of the ancestrally Mayan people living in the area who sought to maintain their rich history, culture, and traditions. Additionally, almost all of the materials used in the building of each was sourced locally. This has helped make sure that each of the villas, restaurants, and other buildings can function as a natural extension of the land itself. Not a single design detail was overlooked, rushed, or neglected.
