Mercedes-Benz AMG GT S Roadster

It has the dazzling looks and impressive performance that helps deliver great memories and the convertible AMG GT S Roadster means you can get to enjoy the sunshine as well.

When Mercedes first unveiled plans for its GT S soft top, the worry was that the car was already stiff and finely tuned, and this model would need to be much stiffer to deal with the physics of removing the roof.

However, that isn’t the case and Mercedes has delivered a car that gives a nod to roadsters from yesteryear and manages a brilliant mix of modern day road manners and capabilities.

For head-turning joy when behind the roadster’s steering wheel, then the drive along the Côte d’Azur in France will show off the aesthetic effectively. There will undoubtedly be other supercars travelling from the harbour in Cannes to Monte Carlo but few will match the sleek good looks of the AMG GT S Roadster and when it reaches the casino it, and you, will feel at home.

With a great automotive history and a design ethic that many people aspire to own, the roadster makes the journey an impressive and enjoyable trip - though we highly recommend the detour to the river canyons at Gorges du Verdon on the way.

The best part of driving the roadster is that there is very little buffeting when the roof is down, and the occupants will sit undisturbed as the wind passes overhead.

AMG GT S Roadster delivers a planted feel

The AMG GT S Roadster delivers a planted feel when driven, and it’s a great car to put through its paces on winding coastal or country roads. With the roof down, the Mercedes Airscarf – effectively warm air being blown around the driver’s and passenger’s neck – makes driving in cooler weather a great experience too.
The attention to detail in the cabin helps underpin why this is a supercar - all the knobs and buttons have been styled to impress, and the use of carbon fibre is excellent.

For comfort, the stitched leather seats are luxurious and the digital binnacle is easy to use with the instruments showing how responsive the engine is.

For those who are looking for driving performance, then the lightweight aluminum spaceframe coupled with the handcrafted 4.0-liter AMG V8 bi-turbo engine will deliver thrills aplenty.

While the road along the Côte d’Azur offers undulating and comfortable roads, perhaps the autobahns of Germany is where this supercar will feel at home as you test the 0 to 62 mph time, or 0 to 100 kph, of 3.7 seconds.

The roadster will then deliver an engine roar and propel itself up to the top speed of 192 mph (308kph). The acceleration is impressively quick and the car incredibly stable.
