Oceanco 109m Project Bravo Helps Revolutionize the Yachting World

On November 17th, 2018—from the beautiful port city of Alblasserdam, the Netherlands—Oceanco was proud to announce the spectacular launch of the 109 meter “Project Bravo.” Not only does this particular ship have an impressive size, structure, and inclusion of luxury features, but is also contains what the team has described as a “prime example of Oceanco’s new wave of forward-thinking yachts.”

Even upon first examination, it is clear that this ship has already been able to transform the way that we think about shipbuilding and challenge our expectations of what a quality yacht should be. The design team consisted of architecture done by Lateral Naval architects, exterior design and layout done by Nuvolari Lenard, and interior design done by Reymond Langton Design. Despite the fact that each of these designers have had many successful projects in the past, they still sought to approach the process with entirely open and forward-thinking minds.

Project Bravo has been able to help introduce a new approach to ship building known as the “LIFE” design method. LIFE—which stands for lengthened, innovative, fuel-efficient, and eco-friendly—is one of the most progressive approaches to shipbuilding to date and one that is certainly quite suitable for the challenges and demands of the 21st Century.

This process was further described by director of Lateral Naval Architects, stating, “The LIFE design’s use of advanced hybrid propulsion incorporating significant battery capability, combined with a single tier engine room allows novel use of space to deliver areas of outstanding luxury accommodation.”

The process as a whole clearly demonstrates the ship’s willingness to keep evolving and attempting to improve upon the already impressive amount of progress that can be found in the industry as a whole. However, even keeping all of these things in mind, the team also knew that the traditional virtues of yachts—luxury, extravagance, performance, and careful attention to detail—could also clearly not be overlooked.

As you begin to explore the various decks of the ship, you will immediately notice that there were many valuable decisions made throughout the entirety of the design process. She contains an impressive collection of art that was carefully selected from sources around the world. The textures, fabrics, lighting fixtures, and furniture are all further examples of both the owner’s and the design team’s stunning aesthetic instincts.

Overall, it seems that the best word to describe this ship—measuring at an impressive 109 meters with a 16.3 meter beam—is balance. As all things in nature ought to be, this ship was able to effectively balance luxury with sustainability, size with agility, and a commitment to forward thinking with a recognition of what makes the yachting industry so fundamentally fantastic.

It is clear that this particular ship, the very first to fully implement the “LIFE” approach to shipbuilding, has helped redefine the way we think about our world. She is a masterpiece that is worthy of widespread admiration and one that every single member of the design team ought to be proud to claim as a product of their labor.
