Lürssen Motor Yacht Dilbar: Delivery Completed

The delivery of the 511.81 ft/156 m motor yacht Lürssen Dilbar to its Mediterranean destination was completed in early June, as announced by the respected superyacht builder. The 52-month build process and early May launch took place at Lürssen's Lemwerder shipyard. Dilbar created a significant milepost as what is likely the largest private superyacht build of 2016 in terms of length, and the fourth largest yacht in the world.

The Russian owner, metals, media, and sports businessman Alisher Usmanov, replaced a 2008 Lürssen build also named Dilbar with this new version, renaming the predecessor Ona. The creamy hull color sets her apart from the bright whites and navy blues most yachts of this size display. The lush color is complemented by bronzed hardware.

The upper decks have the effect of thick cream, perfectly poured into rounded pools, fore and aft. Viewed from above, the dreamy vision's only reminder that it has purpose comes from the dual helipads, one on the bow, the other aft on the sundeck. Softened edges on all decks, echoed in the hull grillwork, window shapes, and deck structures give a smooth, relaxed profile.

A dramatically raked and flared bow reaches forward with graceful purpose. Glass bulwarks and extensive glazing wrap the upper decks, while ample windows and portlights dot the lower decks. Staggered curved balconies appear to both port and starboard on two upper decks. While such structures provide refreshing views, they also prove helpful in assisting with tight maneuvers when docking, especially in a yacht of this scale. An Espen Øino design, Dilbar exhibits smooth, elegant lines exuding luxury at every turn, even in the script of her name.

Interior details have been hushed, as with many ultra-luxurious superyacht builds wishing to protect privacy, but Lürssen announced that the vessel has the largest pool of any yacht at 6,357 cubic feet/180 cubic meters. Equipped with a gym, Jacuzzi, elevator, spa, sauna, movie theater, massage room, crew passageway, and outdoor bar, it is assumed guests will want for nothing while on board. Interiors by London's Andrew Winch are expected to match the sumptuous exterior on all seven decks.

Dilbar is a diesel electric powered yacht pulling 30,000 kw from the powerplant, enabling a 22.5 knot speed. In gross tonnage, at 15,917, she exceeds that of Azzam, providing nearly 41,000 square feet of indoor space. With a beam of 77.1 ft/23.5 m, Dilbar's expansive interior may completely redefine the meaning of a full beam master, should that be the case.

Guests will step from an exquisite Wally tender to the handsome double stair to port and starboard, climbing from the aft beach club to the lower deck, repeating the effect from the lower to the main deck. From there, however, most of the fun will happen indoors or under the privacy of decks and overhangs, bucking the trend of the seamless indoor/outdoor merge sought in many contemporary designs. With an extensive array of underwater lighting, however, the view from the outside will certainly be stunning.
