Heesen's innovative Galactica Star has completed sea trials

Heesen Yachts is happy to announce that the spectacular Galactica Star has completed satisfactorily the sea trials in the North Sea on Wednesday 15th and Thursday 16th of May. This all-aluminium motor superyacht survived air temperature of 11 degrees Celsius, super strong wind and enormous waves.

The 65 metre FDHF (Fast Displacement Hull Form) mega yacht left Heesen Yachts in Oss on Saturday 11th of May. The superyacht sailed on the Mass river to Merwehaven in a journey of 150 kilometres. Galactica Star manage to pass through nine bridges some of them with very small clearance. On Monday 13th, the navigation and communication equipment were finally installed.

The revolutionary Galactica Star exceeded the contractual speed of 27 knots and approached the extraordinary average top speed (at half load) of 28,8 knots. The incredible mix of her Fast Displacement Hull Form, two MTU 20V4000M93L engines and Heesen's wide experience in weight reduction made this achievable.

The superyacht can accommodate 12 guests. They will enjoy a remarkable time with some of the luxurious features the mega yacht have: a duplex beach club, 22 square meter swimming platform, sauna, hammam and a fully equipped bar. In addition there is a breathtaking glass bottom swimming pool which allows beautiful natural light in the bar area. Also, a big sunbathing area that can be turned easily in a heli-deck.

Heesen Yachts is the first to build a superyacht with a FDHF (Fast Displacement Hull Form). Both the hull and the configuration are made of aluminum. This revolutionary FDHF increases performance and reduces environmental impact.

Galactica Star will be delivered at the end of June 2013.
