The Italian shipyard Benetti has made a definitive statement in the steel superyacht sector, celebrating the launch of two 67-meter giants in less than a month. Just three weeks after the debut of M/Y Symmetry, the Livorno facility witnessed the launch of her sister ship, M/Y Dagger, marking a milestone for the shipyard’s B.Now 67M series.
These two custom vessels represent a significant leap forward in maritime engineering as the first hybrid units in the B.Now 67M family. Built with steel hulls and aluminum superstructures, both yachts prioritize environmental consciousness without compromising the grand volumes and luxury synonymous with the Benetti brand.
The Engineering Core: Hybrid Efficiency
At the heart of both Symmetry and Dagger is Benetti’s latest-generation hybrid propulsion system. This modular architecture allows the main engines, generators, and a dedicated battery pack to operate in synergy, adapting to various cruising profiles to optimize energy flow and fuel consumption.
Design Language: The Oasis Deck® Experience
While each yacht features a custom interior, they share a striking exterior vision by the British studio RWD. Central to this design is the iconic Oasis Deck®, which redefines the stern as a sea-immersive social platform. This space includes fold-out wings that expand the deck area, a flush infinity pool, and an unobstructed 270-degree view of the horizon.
The interior identities, however, diverge to reflect the distinct tastes of their respective owners:
- M/Y Symmetry: Features an interior by Reymond Langton Design. The aesthetic utilizes soft tones and textures to create a calm, welcoming atmosphere, enhanced by ten bespoke decorative elements including custom fabrics and textile artworks.
- M/Y Dagger: Styled by Sinot Yacht Architecture & Design, this unit features a linear layout and a sophisticated palette utilizing nine different wood types. At the owner’s request, the yacht serves as a floating gallery, with recessed, spotlit niches and specialized shelving designed to showcase a prestigious private art collection.
- Market Implications and Future Outlook
These back-to-back launches confirm Benetti’s global leadership in the construction of custom steel yachts. According to Daniela Petrozzi, Benetti’s Sales Director, the shift in market demand is leaning toward yachts that offer “superior technological autonomy and reduced environmental impact”.
The B.Now 67M platform sits within a robust order book for the shipyard, which currently has over 60 yachts in various stages of construction or on order. With the successful launch of these two hybrid units, Benetti continues to bridge the gap between traditional steel construction excellence and the sustainable requirements of the modern yachting era.
