The Italian builder Overmarine Group has announced the successful launch of the sixth hull in its acclaimed Mangusta Oceano 44 series. The 44-meter tri-deck displacement yacht entered the water on August 11th at the company’s dedicated shipyard in Pisa, Italy, marking another milestone for one of the brand's most popular long-range models.
This launch confirms the continued appeal of the Oceano 44, a yacht celebrated for its blend of sophisticated naval architecture and a design philosophy centered on creating an intimate connection with the sea. Conceived as a floating villa, the vessel combines formidable transoceanic capabilities with the comforts and seamless integration of indoor and outdoor living spaces.
A Design Defined by Light and Space
The Mangusta Oceano 44 is the result of a proven collaboration between Overmarine Group’s internal engineering department, designer Alberto Mancini, who crafted the yacht's sleek and modern exterior lines, and P.L.A.N.A. Design, which oversaw the naval architecture. While the exterior platform remains consistent with the series, the interior of this sixth unit was custom-designed by the shipyard’s team in close partnership with her experienced owner.
A key element of the yacht’s design is its emphasis on light and unrestricted views. Floor-to-ceiling windows are used extensively throughout, dissolving the barriers between the meticulously crafted interior and the surrounding seascape. This approach creates a free-flowing environment that the builder describes as a "global sea loft," designed for extended ocean crossings without sacrificing style or comfort.
Signature Outdoor Living
The Oceano 44’s exterior decks are a testament to its design brief, offering expansive areas dedicated to relaxation and entertainment. These spaces are thoughtfully arranged to maximize the onboard experience.
-
Forward Infinity Pool: Located on the upper deck, a large infinity-edge pool offers a private sanctuary suspended between the sky and the water, providing an exclusive spot for guests to relax.
-
Expansive Sundeck: Measuring an impressive 104 square meters (1,120 square feet), the sundeck is a versatile oasis designed for wellbeing, sunbathing, and taking in panoramic views.
-
Transformative Beach Club: The yacht’s stern features one of its most innovative designs. When the transom door is opened and the two side terraces are deployed, the area transforms into a magnificent 180-degree platform on the water, creating a vibrant hub for social gatherings and watersports.
Engineering for Global Exploration
Beneath its elegant exterior, the Mangusta Oceano 44 is a robust explorer yacht built for serious cruising. The vessel features a full-displacement steel hull paired with a lighter aluminum superstructure—a combination prized in long-range yachts for its strength, stability, and efficiency.
This sturdy construction provides the foundation for impressive performance figures. The yacht can achieve a maximum speed of 15.5 knots and boasts a transoceanic range of 4,500 nautical miles when cruising at a steady 11 knots. Onboard comfort is paramount, enhanced by electrical zero-speed and underway stabilizers that significantly reduce roll, ensuring a smooth experience both at anchor and while navigating.
A Strategic Sale in a Key Market
This sixth hull was sold to an experienced owner described as a "true sea lover," who will take delivery of the vessel in the Turkish market. The sale underscores the growing importance of the region for high-end yachting.
"The Turkish market keeps growing and has been gaining strategic importance for Mangusta," commented Nicolò Strocco, Mangusta's Sales Manager, who supervised the sale of this hull. This delivery further solidifies the brand's presence in a key Mediterranean hub.
The launch comes as Overmarine Group celebrates its 40th anniversary, a period during which the Balducci family has guided the company from its roots in fast composite yachts to a leading position in the construction of steel and aluminum displacement vessels. This Mangusta Oceano 44 is a clear reflection of that successful evolution, blending performance heritage with the demands of modern, long-range exploration.
