VLISSINGEN, THE NETHERLANDS – April 30, 2025 – Damen Yachting has officially launched the first Amels 80, a significant milestone for the shipyard and the highly successful Amels Limited Editions range. This all-new 80-metre superyacht design represents a forward-thinking evolution, blending renowned craftsmanship with innovative technology and a commitment to sustainability.
The launch of Amels 80, hull number 01, signifies a bold new chapter for the Dutch builder. The 2,175 GT superyacht is designed for discerning owners who seek a unique fusion of performance, sophistication, and enduring quality, rooted in the shipyard's rich heritage while embracing future-looking design principles.
A Vision Brought to Life
Sold in 2022, just six months after the Amels 80 design was first introduced, the build of this inaugural vessel has been expertly managed by Burgess on behalf of the owner. This close collaboration between Damen Yachting, Sinot Yacht Architecture & Design, and the owner's team has resulted in a truly unique superyacht.
Sean Bianchi, Partner and Head of Burgess Technical Services, commented on the launch: “We are delighted to see Amels 80, hull number 01 depart her construction dock and enter the commissioning and sea trials phase. This milestone marks the culmination of close collaboration… in crafting a yacht that is truly one of a kind.” Bianchi highlighted the owner's vision and meticulous input as integral to the yacht's extraordinary evolution, noting her striking exterior lines and a bespoke interior unlike any other. “Upon delivery, she is set to become an icon — instantly recognisable by her distinctive paintwork and exceptional design,” he added.
Adriaan Roose, Product Design Manager for the Amels 80 series at Damen Yachting, played a vital role in overseeing the build and ensuring the client's customisations were seamlessly integrated. “The Amels 80 offered the client many custom options whilst still benefiting from the shortened delivery time. This yacht is the ultimate balance of individuality and efficiency,” Roose stated.
Design Excellence and Refined Interiors
The exterior design is the work of the celebrated Espen Øino, known for his distinctive and elegant profiles. “The Amels 80 represents a significant step forward in yacht design. It is a harmonious blend of form and function, designed to offer an exceptional experience on the water with refined elegance,” said Øino.
For the interior, Amels collaborated for the first time with Sinot Yacht Architecture & Design. The result is envisioned as a sanctuary of calm refinement, featuring fluid transitions between spaces and a focus on natural materials. A soft, neutral palette has been utilised to create an atmosphere of high-level luxury and comfort.
Paul Costerus, Designer Interior at Sinot Yacht Architecture and Design, spoke about the collaboration: “The Amels 80 marks the first collaboration between Sinot and Amels. A project which provided us with the opportunity to develop something truly unique. You will feel at home from the moment you step on board.”
