Speedy Bear Takes to the Water: Baglietto Launches Sleek 44M Fast Motor Yacht

Continuing a prolific year of launches, Italian shipyard Baglietto has officially delivered its latest creation: Speedy Bear, a striking 44-meter planing motor yacht. The new addition to Baglietto’s fleet underscores the yard’s firm foothold in the high-performance luxury yacht segment, reinforcing its legacy with a vessel that seamlessly blends heritage and innovation.

Commissioned by a repeat client with a long-standing passion for the brand, Speedy Bear is the third launch of 2025 for Baglietto, following the successful debuts of DOM133 hull no. 10252 and T52 hull no. 10259. With this latest release, Baglietto affirms its mastery of building sleek, high-speed aluminium vessels, this time under the modern FAST range introduced under the Seagull brand.

A Design Rooted in Legacy, Shaped for the Future

The project’s exterior and interior design were entrusted to Francesco Paszkowski Design, with interiors crafted in collaboration with Margherita Casprini. Together, they have reimagined the classic silhouettes of Baglietto’s iconic fast yachts through a contemporary lens.

At first glance, Speedy Bear evokes the spirit of earlier Baglietto masterpieces like the Monokini—winner of the prestigious Compasso D’Oro award—and Pachamama while confidently charting its course in modern yacht design. The yacht’s vertical stern, a nod to its predecessors, now conceals an expansive garage door that folds down to form a generous beach platform with a lounge area. This thoughtful feature offers both visual impact and enhanced connectivity with the sea.

Above, a sleek hard top accentuates the yacht’s streamlined aesthetic while offering practical sun protection for guests on the flybridge. A lowered superstructure on the main aft deck creates space for a relaxed alfresco lounge and dining area. Flanked by two folding terraces and paired with a plunge pool, the space transforms into a versatile social hub with uninterrupted ocean views.

Built entirely in aluminium, Speedy Bear delivers an impressive performance aligned with her athletic styling. Powered by twin MTU 12V4000 M93L engines, the yacht reaches a top speed of 27 knots, with a cruising speed of 23 knots. Her planing hull ensures fast, efficient navigation—ideal for Owners looking to combine speed and luxury on the water.

“This is indeed a custom project that exudes classical beauty while featuring innovative solutions,” said Baglietto Chief Commercial Officer Fabio Ermetto. “She is a yacht that reminds of several historical and yet revolutionary vessels built by Baglietto, from which she has inherited both style and design, while also being a brand-new, one-of-a-kind project, faithful to Baglietto’s DNA.”

That DNA—steeped in 170 years of naval craftsmanship—continues to evolve through vessels like Speedy Bear. Baglietto’s ability to integrate avant-garde design solutions without losing sight of its heritage has positioned the shipyard as a leader in aesthetic refinement and technical capability.

Founded in 1854, Baglietto is a historic Italian shipbuilder specializing in constructing aluminium planing yachts from 38 to 50 meters and steel and aluminium displacement yachts exceeding 40 meters. The company operates two facilities: the leading production site in La Spezia, which spans 35,000 square meters and includes three modern construction sheds for yachts up to 65 meters, and a secondary site in Carrara used for yacht and military vessel construction.

In recent years, Baglietto has significantly expanded its production capacity, including developing new infrastructure to support larger builds and new markets. This includes the Baglietto Navy brand, under which the company is constructing two Italian Navy vessels.

Speedy Bear is a firm representative of Baglietto’s FAST range—a series designed to meet the desires of discerning yacht owners who seek the thrill of performance without compromising on luxury or design. With a strong 2025 already underway and several other launches expected, Baglietto’s trajectory continues upward, supported by a growing client base and a robust order book.

As Speedy Bear begins her journey, she adds momentum to Baglietto’s expanding portfolio. She reaffirms the shipyard’s role as a trailblazer in the fast yacht sector—where tradition and modernity meet in motion.
