Benetti has been pushing itself to create innovative yacht designs since the late 1800s. Its new 500 series shows that it still has plenty of design concepts to explore.

The latest in the series is FB502, better known as Panthera. She's a 47-meter yacht designed for speed, elegance, and the highest level of comfort. Benetti kept her weight down by using 100 percent aluminum. All boats in the 500 series are made of aluminum. This is the second yacht in the series. The first, Imagination, was launched in 2010. The next boat in the series is expected to launch in spring of 2014.

Panthera's hull geometry gives it an advantage over similarly sized yachts. She has a maximum speed of 24 knots and a cruising speed of 22 knots. The design also makes her easy to handle, even at high speeds when vibrations and noise would typically interfere with a captain's directions. Panthera does not fall victim to those problems.

Benetti built Panthera as a high-performance luxury yacht, but she also has enough style to make a statement. Her silver shades and tinted oval windows blend in with her metallic exterior. Inside, her aesthetic uses a combination of light and dark gray tones as well as a collection of photography that adds a layer of sophistication.

Benetti has always commanded the spotlight when releasing new yachts. With Panthera and the rest of the 500 series, the world will definitely pay close attention.
